The Person Behind the Strategy
I Didn't Plan to Be an SEO Agency Owner Yet Here We Are!
For most of my adult life I worked in the grocery industry. Good pay, great benefits. These are important things when you're raising five kids. And honestly, I was good at it. I was always designing displays, creating the in-store signage, dreaming up marketing events. I won a few contests along the way.
But grocery is a grind. Days, nights, weekends, holidays. It takes everything and gives you very little of yourself back. When my kids were grown I decided to move back to Texas, I knew it was time to do something different. Something that was actually mine
A Boring Job, an Open Window, and a YouTube Rabbit Hole
I landed a job doing accounts payable at a ready mix corporate office. Steady work, but repetitive. When they moved The offices into a new building i was in a cubical in a big open room, all noise and fluorescent lights. I started wearing earbuds and listening to podcasts just to concentrate.
That's when I found digital marketing.
I'd been following Matt Leitz’s ChatGPT masterclasses for a while, and suddenly I was surrounded by ads for digital marketing programs. Something clicked. I signed up for the Digital CEO program and started learning everything I could about SEO, web development, and what it actually takes to grow a business online. I took every class I could to become a digital marketing agent.
I partnered on several projects and took on a couple of small marketing jobs pretty quickly. There was a startup HVAC/R company in Austin that needed a digital presence. I pitched to them and just like that I had a major website build and all the SEO that goes with it!
Six Months of Savings and a One-Way Door
I continued working my 9-to-5 job while building the agency for as long as I could, but eventually something finally had to give. With six months of savings set aside, I quit my job in September and went all in.
It wasn't a smooth runway. In November, my son needed me. We traveled to Arizona for a family custody situation that stretched into January. I was managing court paperwork, taking care of kids, supporting my son through one of the hardest things he'd ever faced, all while running my digital agency from a laptop with no access to my work computer.
I kept going. Because that's what you do.
By the time I came home, Coats Mechanical had a published website, an optimized Google Business Profile, and a content strategy in motion. Built in the middle of chaos, on a laptop, across state lines.
Why This Work Matters to Me
Small Businesses Deserve to Be Seen
There are so many small businesses out there doing really good work. Great work, even. But if nobody can find them online, they fail. Not because they weren't good enough, but because they were invisible.
That's the part that gets me.
I get to be the person who changes that. I learn their story, understand their community, and figure out how to share what they do with the people who are already out there looking for it. Watching a small business grow because they finally got found, that's not just a job to me. That's the whole point.
SEO Mastery in Motion launched in June 2025. It's mine, built from scratch, grown through real work with real clients. And it's just getting started.
Let's Work Together
If you're a small business in the Texas Hill Country or Central Texas and you're tired of being invisible online, I'd love to talk. No corporate speak, no confusing packages, just an honest conversation about where you are and what it would take to get you where you want to go.
